 Arnis,
the jewel on the Schlei
Arnis, the smallest town in Germany, is situated on
the Schlei, a 35 kilometre inlet off the Baltic Sea.
The small town is today a paradise for watersports enthusiasts
and people looking for recreation away from mass tourism.
Arnis essentially consists of a single street which
has buildings on both sides of it and is lined with
linden trees. The gardens behind the houses gently slope
down to the water’s edge on both sides. The small
houses, which are arranged close together in rows and
some of which comprise half-timbered structures with
their porches, the so-called "Utluchten",
are what give this small town such character.
