Spain
Spain is to be found furthest in South West
Europe stretching across the Iberian Peninsula surrounded by the Mediterranean,
the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrian Sea. Furthermore, the Balearic and Canary
Islands as well as the enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla belong to Spain. The country
has become in this century one of the most popular destinations – particularly
because of its landscape offering almost everything - ranging from deserts and
a lush vegetation, wide plains and the famous windmills and bizarrely rugged mountains,
stonily aridity areas and welling water, mountains 3,000 metres in height with
the sea right next to them – to steep coasts and flat sandy beaches, the
Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean. Spain is a country of great scenic charm
accommodating innumerable and some immemorial cultural monuments. In the first
place, Northern and Central Europeans were irritated by the monuments and their
Moor traits which everywhere are unmistakably to be felt, especially in the South.
For centuries Moors and Christians had fought for the hegemony and thus had had
a formative influence on the country`s art. Spain preserves its cultural assets
unlike hardly any country does. The vegetation is determined by the interaction
of climate on the one hand and the different sorts of soil on the other hand –
by the alpine and subalpine flora like the alpine meadow vegetation in the Pyrenees
for example. Aside fir and black pine tree forests (pinus uncinata), pines, beeches
and oaks are to be found in the promontory Pyrenees and the coastal mountain ranges
– whereas in the dry south evergreen plants (xeromorphic), mastix trees
and the European fan palm are domiciled. Typically are the stone oak forests on
the coasts and the cork oak trees in the more humid regions of the Baix Emporda
and La Selva. |

Balearic
Islands
There`s more about .............than only.
There is also the ocean.
Forget about everything you´ve ever heard
about mass tourism. Discover the Balearic islands from the sea side. The islands
of Majorca, Ibiza, Formentera and Cabrera offer a lot and all routes of the Mediterranean
have always crossed here. Vestiges of most manifold cultures have still remained.
You´ll pass lots of sleepy and secluded small anchorages on your cruise
and steep coasts only accessible from the sea. Here you´ll experience your
perfectly unique maritime adventure / pure / absolute / sheer sea. Yachtsmen have
compared to holiday-makers the advantage of jumping into and enjoying the clear
water at sea. | |

The
Canary Islands
The Canary Archipelago lies in the North Atlantic
Ocean about 1,500 kilometres southwest of the Iberian Peninsula. Of volcanic origin,
the Canary Islands are a real paradise characterized by impressive geological
formations and gushing vegetation with the most extraordinary beauties of indigenous
species in the flora from the tertiary period. The island´s outstanding
climate – warm and dry, even in winter, and the beauty of its beaches have
made the islands sheer tourism centres. The Canary Archipelago comprises seven
islands separated into two administrative provinces, on the one hand Santa Cruz
de Teneriffa with La Palma, Gomera and Hierro and on the other hand Las Palmas
with Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. | |
